Want to control these amps wirelessly through an app? Watch this: https://youtu.be/hH6FbcZpnsA

Stay tuned for more on this whole home amp as well as a comparison of this and the dayton audio dax66 amplifier. Also stay tuned for my 2018 smart home install!

https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=10761 This is a VERY good whole home audio amplifier. For the money and quality it is superb over other systems. It’s ease of installation puts it up high on the list, and unfortunately not many know about this kind of a system. Similar systems like this can easily be 2x or 3x in cost, maybe even more.

I forgot to talk more about my ceiling speakers, these are the indoor ceiling speakers that i used, and i would recommend them. Amazing sound quality!! They are by dayton audio — Many people recommend them. https://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-cs620c-6-1-2-2-way-ceiling-speaker-pair–300-402

For my outdoor speakers i also used dayton audio — https://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-io655b-6-1-2-2-way-indoor-outdoor-speaker-pair-black–310-012

The speaker wire i used (i’d recommend the 14 guage though):https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=2817

The cat 6 cable i used in my parents (i used regular cat5e though, it doesnt really matter): https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=8103

The RG6 cable that i used for cable tv runs, and my RCA runs: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Southwire-500-ft-18-RG6-Quad-Shield-CU-CATV-CM-CL2-Coaxial-Cable-in-Black-56918445/202316309

Keystone Wall plate (you can get ones with more or less holes): https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=6727

Keystone wall jacks (you can get any kind of wall jacks including hdmi, ethernet etc…): https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=6550

All in all, i spent roughtly $850 to install this system. Labor was free since i did it all myself, however if you’ve never gotten up in the attic and know how to run wire, this type of a job would be a little challenging, but not impossible. I was able to save a little money due to the fact that i already had speaker wire from another install that i did.

  1. Why are so many men handymen so boring and never show any emotion when they have just installed something so big and all the lady’s standing there are screaming and are so happy

  2. So each speaker wire goes to the amplifier. Each zone controller is wired to amplifier with cat6. Is this how it is set up?

  3. Hi Friend, This is one of best video and explained all important aspect of home audio system. I am building new home and looking for amplifier which works with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi both connections because of distance concerns so can you please let me know which amplifier you recommend that works with both. Thank you sir!!

  4. When rack mounting the receiver did you only use the 4 cage bolts on the face? Seems heavy to me ? Should use a shelf ?

  5. The new chromecast doesnt have the jack port. What would you use to stream music with an iphone wirelessly from spotify lets say?

  6. How do you run the RG6 cable notice you had one from the box to the tv however the remaining that’s in the cabinet where exactly you have it wire to

  7. Thanks for the review! It’s > 4 years old but still helpful. Would you recommend something other than chromecast audio now? I believe it’s discontinued and there are new devices like the wiim mini streamer. Also, is it possible to stream different music to the different zones? Would you need multiple streaming devices? (e.g. multiple chromecast audios or multiple wiim streamers?)

  8. I needed help figuring out how to work a system that’s existing and new owners need to figure out how to use it. Where to start to look for it?

  9. I am planning to have Soundavo but not able to understand how to use RG6 coaxial cable to convert to RCA and put into RCA jack in your kitchen as a input

  10. Good morning, nice video am thank you for everything

Pls i have one question about using the alexa .

I noticed you installed the alexa dot closer to the amplifier, does that mean that if I am in zone 6 room I can talk to alexa there without installing another alexa dot in that room , or I must install another alexa dot in each zone rooms and connect them with the alexa dot closer to the amplifier

  11. Prepping to do this in my house and this is the best demo I’ve seen. A few questions if I may:
    1. Each speaker runs back to your amp?
    2. What was the rg6 wire for?
    3. Does the cat 6 go from the room switch to the amp?
    4. Are those 6" speakers? Would you recommend 6" or 8"?

  12. I just installed a Nero Max 12, which is pretty much the same thing. The house was pre-wired for 4 speakers in the garage. Can I put all four speakers in one zone?

  13. How can I get this type of Amplifier in Nigeria with this type of control?

Can you give diagram illustration of the entire connection please

  14. I did a very similar install except the placement of my unit. I used OSD MAX12 for mine and I have 22 speakers. 4-5 speakers per zone for 5 Zones then outside zone is 2 6" rock speakers. I used Dayton audio in-wall speaker expanders so i could power more speakers per zone. I control the unit with both wall keypads and Android app.

  15. Good video about the Monoprice system, I want to know how to connect the PA input on the Amp so I can use it to make an announcement like dinner is ready over the system

  16. Awesome demo video
Can we get one where you show all the connections and where everything is supposed to be plugged ?

  17. Hi, how are you ?? I’ve seen your videos. I’m trying to install a system like this, could you help me what cables I need to control it from my phone, how to make the zones, I would also like to connect it to the TV and do karaoke.

  18. Great video! Building a house, this will the way to go. Unless there are better options now? I know this is 6 years old lol.

  19. I’ll start by saying thank you for the videos! They are a huge help as I’m planning my whole home audio set up. How would I add a powered/active subwoofer to a standard 2 speaker zone? I thought it was the pre-amp outs, but after watching your video it looks like I have to use either the speaker outputs or the pre-amp out independently, they cannot be used in conjunction with each other. Am I understanding that correctly?

  20. which cables would u recommend when the server room is about 13meters away from source. eg TV room is about 15meters away from server room. HDMI would affect Quality with length. using Denon Heos system

  21. This just popped into my feed again. I’m so psyched that I found your channel and installed my Soundavo WS66i while I was buildingmy house! I love that system!

  22. Hi, this is really a nice video. I learned how to conned chromecast from this video. I just moved into a new place and wondering how to connect my tv in master bed room to this monoprice amplifier system. Appreciate any direction. I am not much of a networking guy. My system is in my living room downstairs. I have a network switch with blue plugin.

  23. I have been whole house amps for my new home. The only thing I can’t get an answer to is My receiver is in my family room and TV. Do I need to run a separate receiver for radio to the amp?

  24. I am planning to setup a 12-zone for my new build. I am a rookie in this with some basic knowledge. Few questions. 1) How did you terminate the CAT wiring behind the faceplate on the cabinet? 2) How did those 6 zone CAT wires get plugged to the receiver? 3) I need help setting up the speaker CAT6 (?) or CAT 5E connections with DIP switch
    4) Did you hook up any AV receivers as an input source or use only chrome cast? 5) I may need help setting up a TV connection in the game room for playing tv sound on the speakers while watching TV, is RCA the only option? Any other option? I did request for your parent’s 12 zone setup. Please send me the link. Thanks

  25. Thanks!
I’m working on updating an existing system that is using 3 Kenwood stereo receivers. They are old and 2 of them are failing so it’s time to modernize.

  26. this has explained everything i’ve been searching for literally for 3-4 hours today. big plus on the keypads🔥 just wondering how i could use an ipad to control the music instead of a laptop?

  27. Have you had any issues with ground loop or hum coming from your other zones, with these distribution amplifiers? Thanks!
